Product Review: Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

Bronzer is one product that I find that I reach for every time I do my makeup and this is my latest addition to my collection. Right now because it is Winter and because I have barely had time to be in the sun at all my skin is really a light shade, therefore it needs some color added to it to make me seem more alive 🙂 I love using bronzer to contour my face, make my nose look a little bit thinner and give more definition to my face really! Previously I was using a bronzer which was looking a little bit too orangey on my too pale skin. It usually works super fine when I have a bit of tan but right now it looks like I’ve smeared paint on my face and moreover I end up looking like a disco ball if I overdo it as it is a little shimmery.

€1.70 for 5g of product
Comes in the Elf Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze. A fantastic product for an even more fantastic price. It comes in a clear pot in which you get 5g/0.18oz of product. The color is a muddy brown that transfers to a very natural shade on the skin. I was a little taken aback when I saw it as I thought it would be too dark but it really isn’t unless you pile it up on your face. I noticed that it has the tiniest amount of shimmer if you look closely enough to the product even though the name would imply otherwise. However on the skin it doesn’t transfer at all!

I really love this product and for the amount and the price you really can’t go wrong. I got mine from the Elf website and have used it everyday ever since I got it, which says something about the product!

Have you tried any Elf bronzing powders? What is your favorite bronzer?

FOTD (21/03/2011): Inglot Makeup Session

Last Monday, I was fortunate enough to be able to get a free makeup session from Inglot. My friend got invited in for a session and they wanted her to invite someone else with her, and there I was ready to go! The makeup artist that did my makeup was a young lady called ‘Sandy’ and I love the look she came up with.

She used golden tones all over the lid and then darkened the crease with some black
The only complaint I have, and I don’t know if its just me, but they apply way too much powder if you ask me. It may not show that much on the photos but in real life, when I looked at myself in the mirror you could see that my face was very powdery and thus my pores looked even more enlarged. I know that I have far from perfect skin and that my eyebrows look a little funky but please be nice 🙂

She enlarged my lips a little too, definitely not a subtle look, but I love experimenting
This is my first FOTD in a long time but I have been reading the comments you have left on my Giveaway post, regarding what you would like to see and I have been trying to include your requests more. Hope you like this one and I will try to do them more often 🙂 I also bought some products from Inglot, (of course) and I will be sharing them with you very soon. Enter my giveaway if you haven’t already!

P.S: sorry for the less than perfect photos!

Do you like Inglot products? Have you had a makeup session ever?

Product Review: Sinful Colors Blush in Rosey Sand

This blush has been with me for over a year now and it is from one of my last hauls I did from Cherry Culture. I do love the site for the variety of products they offer, but if I go to eBay I am sure to find most products for much cheaper, so I don’t bother with it any more. This is the only blush I own from Sinful Colors and although it has been much used, I can’t say that I would want to get more from this brand. Now, I love the Sinful Colors nail polishes, so I am not saying that the brand is bad! However, this blush turned out to be a disappointment for me. The color is way too light for my skin, but even more the product is quite powdery and you have to really work at it to get the product to show up.
I like to use it over darker blushes to lighten them a little, if I over apply
The color would be really gorgeous if the shade transferred well to the skin. Its a coral-pink shade with nice shimmers in it but not too much.

You get 5g/0.18oz of product and the shade is 7516 Rosey Sand
A swatch of the product, had to apply over and over again to get this payoff

A blusher which I love using is the Elf Natural Radiance Blusher.

Have you tried any of the Sinful Colors blushes? Do you like them?

Haul: Revlon and Rimmel

As I mentioned in a previous post, I love buying online and this is another case of online shopping that I could not restrain myself from doing. Not long ago I heard a YouTube guru LegallyBrunette214 talking about the Revlon Colorstay Active foundation, which is an oil free, sweat proof formula with light coverage. I love my Revlon Colorstay foundation, but I do not find it feasible to use for everyday as it takes some time to blend and offers high coverage, which you don’t really want for everyday necessarily. I was very sad to realize however that the product was being discontinued.

Thus, when I came across this product in my exact shade on The Cosmetic House website I was trilled to be able to give this product a try. I also was looking for a good concealer and I had heard so many good things about the Rimmel Match Perfection that it went straight to my cart. And last of all came the Revlon Colorstay 12 Hour Eye Shadow in Sterling Rose, which I had been in my wishlist for some time.

Left to Right Clockwise: Revlon Eyeshadow in 345 Sterling Rose,
Revlon Colorstay Active in 220 Natural Beige and
Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter in 060 Natural Beige

The Revlon 12 Hour Eyeshadow was for £3.95 (review HERE), the Revlon Colorstay Active was for £5.25 and you get 30ml of product in a plastic squeeze out tube and the Rimmel Match Perfection was for £3.99 and you get 7ml of product. Reviews for all these products will follow shortly together with swatches 🙂

Haul: Mini Elf Mineral Haul

A few weeks ago the Elf Uk website where having  20% discount on all their Mineral range!I really love their Mineral range and have tried quite a few products from this range, that I will try to do a review about in the future. I love their mineral foundation, their mineral booster to apply all over the face, the mineral eye shadows are all very pigmented and gorgeous colors, their mineral lipsticks are all very easy to wear and very moisturizing and their mineral eyeliners go on really easily. Thus, no need to tell you I got some things I had been wanting. I wasn’t really needing much from the Mineral line, I got some from the regular line but only two products from the Mineral line.

I got the wonderful mineral lipstick in Rosy Raisin and mineral lip liner in Peachy. I already have two other mineral lipsticks; Barely Bitten and Party Pink and I really love their consistency, they give you color without putting on a lot of product on the lips, so they feel really good on the lips. I wanted to try out this shade as I had already bought it as a gift for someone else and I loved the way the color looked.

Rosy Raisin – You get 3.8g of product for €4.00
Wearable neutral color, that looks like my own lips but better 🙂
Swatch of Rosy Raisin
I also got the Elf Mineral lip liner in Peachy as I had heard many great things about this product, this shows up a little more orangey on camera than how it really is. But, it will look great under coral toned lipsticks especially in Summer. This is a twist up product that retails for €3.50 and is really easy to apply and lasts a long time. The only downside to this product is that they offer it in a very limited range of colors. For a review of the Mineral Eyeshadow in Royal go HERE.

Peachy lip liner, twisted up and a little swatch!

Haul: More Revlon Products

This haul is long overdue, since I got these products at the end of December! But among the Christmas holidays, assignments and exams this blog post got lost in all the mayhem! I am exceptionally late to jump on the Revlon foundation band wagon, since I was not a big fan of foundations until I used the Revlon Colorstay foundation for Combination/Oily skin. I have very acne prone skin which results in skin that is left with blemishes that need covering up. So when I was given a free make-over and the MUA used this foundation, I was pleasantly surprised. I left my skin looking non-greasy and the cover power is really great (review coming soon)! The bonus is that it doesn’t break me out. Thus, I had to get my hands on this foundation and I have been in love ever since. As I love the Revlon Lipglosses I got another one of the Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Glosses in 18 Pearl Plum.

Revlon ColorStay foundation for Combination/Oily skin in 220 Natural Beige

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in 18 Pearl Plum

The lipgloss has blue shimmers in it, really gorgeous!

Have you tried any of these products? Do you love Revlon?

I have been dying to try out this Crease less Cream Shadow/Liner from Benefit ever since Fleur De Force mentioned it in her blog. She compared it to MAC Rubenesque Paint Pot and as I don’t have any paint pots from MAC I really wanted to try this product for a better price. This is a peachy coral color and I can’t wait to try it out.
