POTW: Essence Nail Polish in Ultimate Pink

For this week’s Pink of the Week I am sharing with you this cute combination of pink and nude on my nails.

The pink is the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish in 108 Ultimate Pink, the nude shade is the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish in 162 Dare it Nude, and on the nude shade I applied a glitter topcoat which was a limited edition from Essence Glitter Topper from their Hugs & Kisses Collection in 01 More Than Words.

I am loving this combination of pink and nude on my nails. I also used the Sally Hansen’s Double Duty as my base coat and the Insta Dry as my top coat. The Essence polishes are dry really fast and the application is smooth and opaque. The glitter is also gorgeous and I love it on top of most shades.

The Body Shop Haul

I have been meaning to share this Body Shop Haul for a while but also wanted to try out some of the products out before mentioning them on my blog. So without further ado here is my haul from The Body Shop.

Firstly, I am a huge fan of The Body Shop, I love trying out new things from them and have a few staple products, I repurchase time and time again! This time I got my well loved Madagascan Vanilla Flower Body Mist which I love for everyday use and have repurchased multiple times. I know it is quite sweet but I just love vanilla, anyone who knows me can testify this!

Next I got the Vitamin C Facial Cleansing Polish. I was given a sample of this during the Christmas period and loved it. It’s not too abrasive but has small coarse particles in a thick gel polish that helps scrub gently your face.

I also got the Vitamin E eye cream. I had tried this product before but had forgotten how amazing this is. It helps reduce my dark circles and the puffiness around my eyes. The smell is not too noticeable, it sinks right in the skin but leaves your eye area moisturized and doesn’t irritate the eyes at all. It is also perfect to use under makeup.

Lastly, I got The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 02 Fair Matte. I can honestly say that this is all Essie Button‘s fault. She was raving about it and I just couldn’t resist trying it out. Btw if you haven’t checked her out already, get on it! The bronzer is a buttery soft consistency, blends gorgeously on the skin and doesn’t leave you looking streaky. I sometimes also use it on my eyes, in the crease, to give some slight definition. This is a matte bronzer, no shimmer at all and will suit all skin tones.

I have also posted reviews for The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost and The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist.

POTW: NYX Nail Polish in Sandal

This week’s Pink of the Week is the NYX Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish in 224 Sandal. It is a bright fuchsia colour that I think is perfect to celebrate the beginning of Spring and will look great all year round.

I love the NYX nail polishes and this one did not disappoint. It applied opaque and was not streaky. I applied two coats of it together with the Sally Hansen’s Base and Top Coats. On my ring finger I applied one thin coat of the Essence Glitter Top Coat in It’s Just a Little Crush.

What is your favourite pink nail polish shade?

POTW: Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart

This week’s Pink of the Week is the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in 090 Sweet Tart. I only have this shade from this range and I find it really moisturizing, creamy and pigmented.

The colour I have is a bright pink that transfers true to its colour on the lips. I find it best to apply some and pat into the lips as it is such a dense consistency. This lip butter is not the best for staying power, that is if you eat something it will most probably disappear from your lips, but I still like it a lot.

Have you tried any of the Revlon Lip Butters? What is your favourite moisturizing lip product?

A Month in Nails: February 2014

This is a new thing I’m trying so let me know if you enjoy these types of posts. This is a look at what I had on my nails for the past month. This allows me to have a look at which colours I’m gravitating most towards and which brands I am liking.

For February I wore four different brands; Essence, NYX, She and Sally Hansen. As you can tell in January I was going for pinky shades which turned into darker purpley shades as the month progressed.

I like the consistency of all four nail polishes and they all stay on for a solid week on my nails without chipping. Personally I love the She colour but the Essence one is really fun and bright. The Sally Hansen one is not as opaque as the others but I love how the plum colour shows through and I love the application. The NYX colour is the first burgundy I own and I am really pleased with the shade.

The colours are Essence Naughty and Pink, NYX Red Wine, She Dirty Lilac and Sally Hansen Plum Luck.

Which shade would you go for? Have you tried any of these shades?

Brand Focus: A NYX Obsession

NYX has only been in Malta for a couple of months but I’ve loved NYX products for a while now. Since the opening of their store in Sliema, I have amassed a number of products from NYX that have been added to my collection. This is what I have gotten so far.

NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray
This is a spray you apply when you’ve done your makeup and which helps your makeup last longer and removes that powdery look that you sometimes get on your face. Apply a couple of sprays to your face, making sure that the bottle is at arms length from your face. I have combination/oily skin so this formula works great for me, however they also have a Dewy Finish Spray which would better suit dryer skins.

NYX Stay Matte but Not Flat Foundation
This is an oil free foundation that is not heavy on the skin and applies smoothly on the skin. A little goes on a long way but I feel it doesn’t look too good if you build it up too much but stays long on the skin. Just apply one layer on the skin, it gives decent coverage and is in a squeezy plastic tube, great for travelling.

NYX Pore Filler
This is a gel like consistency that is one shade fits all. You pat a small amount onto your pores and it effectively hides your big pores. Don’t apply too much or you will look greasy and don’t rub it in as it has Silica and will disrupt anything you apply over the top.

NYX Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polishes in Taupe and Red Wine
I just love these nail polishes. Great colour selection, great staying power, affordable price and 15ml of product. You can see Red Wine on my nails here.

NYX Color Lip Balm in Asante
Moisturising sheer coverage lip balm that looks great on those lazy days or if you cannot go to the bathroom to reapply your lip colour. Smells heavenly and lasts nicely on the lips. Check my review here.

NYX Blush in Red
Amazing colour pay off and a little goes a long way. Definitely not good for makeup beginners but really amazing product to have in your collection. Looks great with a tan as it is a deeper colour but can be applied lightly if you tap your brush before applying to your cheek.

NYX Eyeshadow Base
This is a white coloured eyeshadow base in a pot. A little goes a long way and works wonders to brighten and intensify eyeshadows whilst increasing the longevity of the products.

Do you love NYX? Would you like to see a review on any of these products?

POTW: NYX Color Lip Balm in Asante

This week’s Pink of the Week, is my favourite coloured lip balm at the moment, the NYX Color Lip Balm in Asante. I find that coloured lip balms are great to carry around in your purse. They are easy to apply and some give really nice colour, plus they hydrate your lips!
I got this NYX Color Lip Balm back in December and I’ve been carrying it around ever since. It has great colour pay-off, smells really sweet and yummy, and is really hydrating. This is just €3.99 and I find it’s better than some more fancy lip balms out there. This product applies sheer with a hint of colour but can be built-up to great coverage after a couple of swipes.

I cannot wait to try more of these color lip balms and to try some more colours in this formula.

Do you like coloured lip balms? What is your favourite?
