How NOT to prepare for a Blogger Event

Being a beauty blogger you’d think getting invited to blogger events is the norm. But in truth, at least in my case, blogging is a hobby, something I do in my free time or whenever I can squeeze in some time to write down a post. Blogger events are usually rare and far in between.

Having said this, there are some opportunities which crop up that give me the chance to attend to blogger events for brands which I love and believe in. However, since blogging is not my full-time job this can turn into a juggling job, that similar to a fight, does not always see me come out as the victor. Apart from having a full-time job, I am finishing up my last year at University and try and maintain a healthy social life.

Although rare in occurrence the blogger events that I get invited to seem to have one thing in common;  they all seem to happen on that day of the week in which I have already crammed two or three things in.  Continue reading “How NOT to prepare for a Blogger Event”

Femme Beauty | Launch Party

A few weeks back I was invited, together with some other bloggers and beauty lovers to the re-launch of Femme Beauty – a spa and beauty shop in Attard specialising in Acrylic and Gel Nail Extensions, Gelish, Spa Manicures and Spa Pedicures, Facials, Massages, Waxing and Make-up by Qualified Personnel.

The hosts of the evening and owners of the quaint and welcoming place were Luisa and Christina, two gorgeous and talented girls. The shop although small was filled with people and us bloggers didn’t take long to start chatting away about beauty as we were surrounded by makeup and a fun atmosphere.

Beauty Launches Roundup #1

As we get into Autumn here is a look at the beauty launches that have been going on lately. This is the first post in this series of Beauty Launches Round-up were I take a look at what is being launched in the beauty industry and give you links to where you can read up more about them and get yourself the latest releases.

Starting off with a beauty launch that I am very excited about. Zoella has launched her first beauty range called, Zoella Beauty. The range features a Body Lotion, a Shower Cream/Bath Soak, a mini candle, a Bath Fizzer, a Body Mist and two makeup bags/pencil cases. The design and colours used in this range reflect Zoe’s personality of girlishness, fun and cuteness. The range is available on feelunique.com and in Superdrug, if you live in the UK. For a closer look at all the products, Zoe herself blogged about it here.

Next, Sigma Beauty have launched a new collection called, the Color Pop Collection. The range is part of the new sub-brand called Sigma Girl that is targeted towards the younger generation and makeup beginners. The Color Pop Collection features three sets, that each include two eye-shadows, a shimmer dust, a highlighter and a lip gloss. Also available is a cute mini brush set that has the E25 blending brush, the E55 eye-shading brush and the F40 Contour brush. You can see the full release of the collection here and you can get them on the Sigma Beauty website.

Sigma are also launching their new 3DHD Collection. The 3DHD Kabuki was are uniquely designed for all areas of the face to apply liquid, cream and powder products uniformly on every curve, crease and angle; while the 3DHD Precision brush was uniquely designed for smaller areas of the face. You can be on the lookout for this brand new release on the Sigma Beauty website.

A fun new collection, also recently launched comes from MAC. Many of us find it hard to keep track of all the collections that MAC comes out with. However, except from the Simpsons Collection, which I found quite gorgeous, the new MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection. This collection has been launched at the beginning of October and features quite a long list of products. The 21-piece collection includes lipstick, eye-shadow, eyeliner, nail polish and blush, priced from $14 to $44. You can have a look at the products on XSparkage here or have a look on the MAC website.

Next is the Nars Holiday 2014 Color Collection, which is set to be released as of November 1, 2014. The collection features a thrilling seductive design that architectural designer Chris Kabatsi’s digitally-rendered to create a Nebula print into a dynamic yet delicate depiction. The intricate web of black gloss grips the signature soft-touch packaging in a modern take on lace. You can take a look at the products and the gorgeous packaging here, on the blog Beauty in the Geek.

Lastly, is a release that I have been waiting on for a few months now. Sam and Nic from Pixiwoo have released their latest collection for Real Techniques called, Nic’s Picks. This limited edition set, featuring 3 exclusive brushes specially designed to create the perfect finish. Each brush has a beautiful silver handle with the Real Techniques logo and brush name printed in the classic Real Techniques colours. You can get them on feelunique.com and you can have a closer look at all the brushes and what their intended use is here.

That concludes the end of this first Beauty Round-up. I hope you added some things to your wishlist, I sure have (Zoella Beauty Eyes Beauty Bag and Real Techniques brushes here I come)! If you do end up getting any of the featured items do let me know by using the #CosmeticAffairRoundup.

REVIEW | Summer Sweatproof and Longlasting Rimmel Duo

rimmel matte foundation

If the summer heat turns your face into a melting puddle of makeup that ends up sliding all over, then you need to get your hands on some good long-lasting products that will keep the shine in control and your makeup in place. These two products from Rimmel are my winning combo when I want my makeup to last for a long time and actually stay on my face. The two products are the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour Foundation and the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

I would not go as far as to say that the foundation lasts the 25-hour claim but it does last a good 12 hours on me and still look quite acceptable. The consistency of this foundation is not too thick so it can be applied for a more sheer coverage on the face. However, it is definitely one you can build up if you want a more full coverage foundation.

One thing to note is that if you have dry spots on your face, make sure to apply a good primer and moisturize properly otherwise it might cling to those drier areas a bit more.

I cannot say enough good things about the Stay Matte Powder! I always get the Transparent shade so that it is a perfect fit all year round and it is the perfect powder for all over the face and for touching up throughout the day. It helps keep my forehead from turning into a disco ball and is not too heavy on the skin. It can seriously take down the shine and it does not clog the pores.

One thing I note is that it does look best once it has set a bit on your face. So like around 30 minutes after you have applied it any of the powdery look will have sunk into the skin and will leave your skin looking naturally smooth.

What are your go-to sweatproof and long lasting products?

*Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored. Both products were purchased with my own money, unfortunately 😛 but I really love Rimmel!

POTW: Catrice in Pink Me Up!

This week’s Pink product is the Catrice Ultimate Lip Colour in 110 Pink Me Up! The Catrice Ultimate Lip Colour range gives amazing colour with a long lasting formula that is easy to wear on the lips.

This shade is great for when you want a bright, bold pop of colour on your lips. I love wearing this when I go for a simple eye look and this on the lips for a more finished look. I think this kind of colour is great all year round. Will look great both in summer with a bronzed look and in colder months with a smoky eye.

This lipstick does not dry matte on the lips but leaves a slight sheen behind that is not too glossy. It can be worn on its own for a full bold effect or else by applying over some lip balm to sheer it out. For an effortless lip I also like to apply lightly on the lips and pat in for a more sheer wash of colour that last longer.

POTW: Essence Nail Polish in Ultimate Pink

For this week’s Pink of the Week I am sharing with you this cute combination of pink and nude on my nails.

The pink is the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish in 108 Ultimate Pink, the nude shade is the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish in 162 Dare it Nude, and on the nude shade I applied a glitter topcoat which was a limited edition from Essence Glitter Topper from their Hugs & Kisses Collection in 01 More Than Words.

I am loving this combination of pink and nude on my nails. I also used the Sally Hansen’s Double Duty as my base coat and the Insta Dry as my top coat. The Essence polishes are dry really fast and the application is smooth and opaque. The glitter is also gorgeous and I love it on top of most shades.

What is your favourite combination on your nails?

POTW: Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart

This week’s Pink of the Week is the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in 090 Sweet Tart. I only have this shade from this range and I find it really moisturizing, creamy and pigmented.

The colour I have is a bright pink that transfers true to its colour on the lips. I find it best to apply some and pat into the lips as it is such a dense consistency. This lip butter is not the best for staying power, that is if you eat something it will most probably disappear from your lips, but I still like it a lot.

Have you tried any of the Revlon Lip Butters? What is your favourite moisturizing lip product?
