Product Review: Revlon ColorStay Quad – Sterling Rose

This is my first Revlon ColorStay quad and it is the one in 09 Sterling Rose. The colors give you the opportunity to create a multitude of looks from neutral to more smoky eyes with the darker grey shades. I have already featured this quad in a haul post I did a while back and since I got it I have been using it constantly 🙂

The instructions on the back
You get four shades; a light taupe color, a light pink shade, a silver shade and a dark charcoal shade. The consistency of them is very silky and easy to apply and blend and the color payoff is really great too. They also last a really long time on the lid.

The four shades available and
the
two applicators that come with it
I also love the little pattern that is on each shade! I love these little details in my products. My only complaint about this product would be that the case is not very sturdy but for the quality you get and the price you pay, I can forgive them that 🙂

Swatches of the shades, from Left to Right on my hand
are the colors from Top to Bottom in the palette
The colors as you can see from swatches are all a little shimmery and they are all very wearable! The last two shades are perfect to create a more smoky dramatic look too 🙂 I really love this product and would definitely repurchase more of these palettes. I got mine from The Cosmetic House for £3.95.

What do you think about this palette? Which do you recommend?

Product Review: 17 Even Tone Color Corrector Cream

I had heard many things about color correctors and how they are supposed to reduce the redness on the face and make your skin look more even under your makeup. Now since I have some discoloration and redness on my cheeks I was interested in trying out a product that could do this for me. So when I saw this product on The Cosmetic House website, I decided to give it a try.

No. 17 Even Tone Color Cream Corrector
This is one of those product that is green and then when blended on the skin it should disappear and help even out the tone. You get 40ml of product which is a good amount.

What it claims to do
The product claims that it can help to correct unbalanced skin tone and rosy complexion and that it can be applied before foundation and blended into the skin. Now this product has a very light, runny consistency. When I applied it before my foundation, it does not blend throughly into the skin but leaves traces of the color and doesn’t blend fully.

A little of the product on my hand
The color of the product as you can see is a minty green, which if you have a medium skin tone, it looks quite light next to my skin. Once blended I find that my skin looks like it has something light on it. Also, when you try to apply foundation on it, it does not help the product to go smooth but can make it look patchy. Honestly, I don’t use this product very much, only and rarely when I have a pimple that is super pigmented and I use this on the pimple only to reduce the pigmentation before applying foundation. It doesn’t make that much difference, to tell the truth 😦

Blended into the skin, you can still see some traces of it
I don’t know if it is just me, but this doesn’t work at all for me. Maybe, I am doing something wrong, but I can’t make this work and do anything for me!

Do you have this product or something similar? How do you find it?

Product Review: Essence Cover Stick – True Nude

The Essence Cover Stick is a concealer stick that I got some time ago. The color I got it in is in the shade 04 True Nude which matches my skin fine. I like the concealer to be a little lighter than my skin to better cover any blemishes or spots, and if well blended it doesn’t look any different than my skin.

Essence Cover Stick for all skin types
The packaging for this really cute. You get the product which twists up in the little tube and a little cardboard cover to go with it. You get 5g/0.1oz of product and it says for all skin types. This concealer is a little thick and I don’t find that it would be good for under the eyes as it might cake up. However, for any blemishes or spots over the face, it offers really good coverage.

Swatch – 04 True Nude
I got mine from a local supplier of the Essence brand for €2.61 which is a good affordable price for the amount you get. I find it covers really well and once it is blended it helps your skin to look smoother and more even.To see more products I got from Essence, I did a haul.

Have you tried any concealers from Essence? What do you think of the brand?

Product Review: Elf Mineral Eyeshadow – Royal

This is the first mineral eyeshadow that I got from Elf, and so far the only one. However, I am sure I will get many more from this line as the texture and payoff of these is really great. This is the Elf Mineral Eyeshadow in Royal which is a gorgeous purple shade. You get a little pot with 0.03oz/0.85g of product for €3.50/£3.00 from the Elf UK website.

The product comes in a cute light nude colored box, that is recyclable
On the back it states that the product is made of:
100% Natural Minerals
,
has
No Parabens,
No Preservatives
and
No Chemical Dyes
The company also gives some of its profits towards charity, although I am not sure about the percentage. Elf is also cruelty free, which is very important and helps the environment by making use of recyclable materials.

The color – Royal is shown on the side of the box
The little round pot, in which you get the product
The product comes into a little round pot with a twisting top. The loose powder has a sifter and it is protected by a sticker when it comes to you. I just put two holes in the sifter as with eyeshadow you never want too much product to come out. Usually with face powder I don’t mind it much and remove the plastic all together, but with this I didn’t.

Product with sifter and protective sticker
Swatch of Royal
The texture of the eyeshadow is really soft and velvety and really easy to apply and blend. The swatch I did is on my hand and has no primer underneath. You can either use it this way for a slight wash of color over the lid or you can intensify it by applying a primer or a base underneath it and the color becomes more vibrant. I love it both ways. I will surely try and get more of these shadows from Elf as they are really gorgeous. For more Mineral products from Elf I recently did a haul too.

Product Review: Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash

This is a skin care product that I use. I have combination/oily skin, so the first thing I look in a product is that it is Oil-free as any oil in products will break me out and will make me even oilier. The Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash was a purchase I made after I had used the Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser which is the first deep action cream wash that I have ever tried. Since the Dermalogica one is a little expensive I was on the lookout for more affordable but just as effective products.

I also got the Noxzema Cleansing Cream which I loved, but I was still on the lookout for more products to try out, since they were being so effective. The Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash is not as powerful as the Dermalogica or as the Noxzema however I still love it as it is more effortless.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash Oil-Free
The product comes in a hygienic tube where you get 150ml of product. With this product, a little goes a long way. I apply it with my hands on my face, without wetting my face beforehand. The product is a cream/foam white consistency that feels very light on the skin and it smells very fresh. You can apply it and leave it on for a minute or so for a fast face mask, but it does not dry on the skin, it more sinks into the skin and is absorbed for a more in-depth cleanse. Since this product is not so powerful, I can use it when I have dry patches on my face as it does not dry my face at all, unlike the Noxzema one which it sometimes tends to do.

Removes dirt, oil and impurities without clogging pores
I have been using this product for some months now and I have already finished this tube and re-purchased a new one. This is the first product I have ever tried from this brand as it is not found where I live. I am also trying a new product (for me) from Clean & Clear which is a face scrub especially formulated for removing black heads. I will let you know how that works. I truly love this product and would recommend it for anyone who has oily skin or combination like me and is acne prone. I also have very sensitive skin and this product is gentle enough to not cause any breakouts. I hope this was helpful and if you have similar skin to mine, maybe it will work for you too. I got mine from eBay.

Have you tried this product? What do you think about Clean & Clear?

Product Review: Inglot Eyeshadow Duo

As you may have realized by now, I am getting obsessed with Inglot makeup. A few months ago, a dear friend of mine gave me this two shadow palette from Inglot with these gorgeous two shades 🙂 This was actually a Christmas present which came a little late. I love the Freedom palettes that Inlot offer, they are so unique and so original and modern and the size of the shadows is really amazing.

The classy box, the palette came in
Back of the box, 2.7g/0.10oz of product per shadow
Freedom System Palette
The palette comes in the classy black box with the Inglot logo on it. The palette itself is one from the Freedom System and you get 2.7g/0.10oz for each shadow. The palette makes use of magnets to hold the top lid to the bottom and the shadows are placed in their position through the use of magnets.

Top part slides to reveal the shadows

From Left to Right: 428, AMC18
As you can see the pans are quite large and you get a very decent amount of product in each pan. The shade number/name is found at the bottom of the pan for each shade. To get the pans out you can use the magnet found in the lid, put it slowly next to the pan and it will come up and out of the palette. You can then look and the number/name and put the pan gently back into the palette. This was a good tip for me, since I got this for a gift and my friend did not know the numbers/names of the shadows.

Bottom 428, Top AMC18
As yo can see from the swatches, the pigmentation of these shadows is really amazing and they are easy to blend and have a metallic sheen finish to them. They are both very vibrant and work amazingly for more dramatic looks or for a bright pop of color to a neutral eye makeup. With one swipe you get amazing pigmentation and color pay-off. I was really pleased with these shades as with all products from Inglot. For other Inglot reviews you can check HERE or you can check my Inglot haul.
