REVIEW | Bourjois Air Mat Foundation

Bourjois, matte, long-lasting, Bourjois in Malta, ivory

If you have struggled with oily skin all your life, then you know that the first thing you look for in a foundation name are the words matte and long-lasting. However, you also know that using a long-lasting foundation can have its downfalls, such as dull-looking skin and having dry patches. Having been an avid fan of Bourjois foundations I was welcomed the effectiveness of the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation to deliver not only longevity but brighter-looking skin, without being greasy or heavy.

The Bourjois Air Mat Foundation comes in a convenient plastic squeezy tube that makes it ideal for taking with you when traveling or if you want to chuck it in your bag for a touch-up later on during the day. As with all Bourjois shades be careful of the colour you pick up as they tend to run on the dark side. My shade 01 Ivory Rose was a perfect fit for my skin and thanks to its yellowy under-tones it helps to reduce any dark tones on my skin and lighten any acne scars without the need to go over them with an additional layer of concealer.

The texture of this foundation is cream to powder, leaving your skin non-greasy to the touch a mere couple minutes after application. I have two favourite ways in which I like to apply it, depending on my skin on the day. The first being applying a thin layer with a buffing brush and then patting in with a beauty blender type sponge, otherwise I just go in with the sponge directly and pat it all over the face. The first gives a more sheer application whilst the latter gives a more even and fuller application without being heavy.

Although I tend to go for these types of foundations more and more as the summer heat makes it difficult for me to maintain a full face of makeup for the whole day, I have found myself reaching for it even during cooler days with the assurance that my makeup would stay on all day, looking fresh.

In conclusion, as you might have realised by now, the Bourjois Air Mat foundation is one of my favourites, that while being long-lasting does not lay heavy on the skin and I totally recommend to anyone with oily or combination to oily skin. For those with dry skin, maybe this should be a pass.
