Everyday your skin is exposed to a lot of things – sun, wind, air-conditioning, stress and pollution. So it’s no wonder that on different days it reacts in different ways and needs different products and treatments to look its best. In order to keep your skin looking healthy, bright and young it is important to have in place a regular skincare regime to mitigate the adverse effects of the environment you are in and your lifestyle choices.
Face masks are an important aspect of a good skincare regime. Having a variety of masks can help regulate your oil levels, relieve dryness, fight against acne, soothe irritated skin, as well as improve the condition and texture of your skin. Three masks that I have found time and time again to help my skin when it was going through a rough time are the Body Shops’ Vitamin E Mask, the Honey & Oat Mask and the Aloe Vera Mask.
Vitamin E Mask
With its gel-like texture and pleasant scent, the Body Shop Vitamin E Sink-in Moisture Sleeping Mask is refreshing on the skin and provides long-lasting moisture for dry, tired and dehydrated skin. The cream / gel texture can be applied in a thin, even layer and left on the skin overnight for an intense hydration boost, or for a shorter period of time for a quick invigorating treatment to your skin.
Honey and Oat Mask
Although the funniest-looking of the bunch, the Body Shop Honey & Oat 3 In 1 Moisturising Scrub Mask is my favourite go-to mask when my skin is suffering from multiple symptoms at-a-time. Be it acne, dry skin, excessive oiliness or just dullness, this mask always manages to make my skin feel a 100 times better without being too aggressive. This mask is a thick creamy mixture with bits of oats, either to be applied in a thin layer on the skin or to be rubbed on for its scrubbing benefits. This one is also great to help reduce the appearance of blemishes and acne scars.
Aloe Vera Mask
The Body Shop’s Aloe Vera Protective Restoring Mask is similar to the Vitamin E Mask in its freshness and gel-like texture. However, this manages to be even lighter on the skin and it sinks in almost immediately leaving your skin refreshed, brighter and prepped for make-up or to top up with your regular night-time treatment, giving it a boost overnight.
