POTW: Clinique Chubby Stick in Pudgy Peony

For this week’s edition of Pink of the Week, I want to share with you my favourite product to create a bright pink lip.

The Clinique Chubby Stick in 15 Pudgy Peony is a bright fuchsia colour in a twist up stick that is easy to apply and gives a gorgeous pop of colour. This product is really good for moisturizing your lips too as it contains mango and shea butters.

It goes on the lips with a slight sheen and is not too intense. I usually apply a couple coats on my lips to get some intensity. The only down side to this product is the scent, it doesn’t have a nice fruity or sweet taste to it. It just tastes of lipstick. However this is not too intense and it doesn’t linger so don’t let it bother you too much.

Rimmel, Revlon, Bourjois and many brands do these kinds of products and I think they’re really easy to use and great to carry around for on-the-go applications.

CND Products and Lash Extensions

Last week I met up with the lovely Lisa Farrugia who is an Ambassador for CND Products. I have been introduced to CND only recently when I got gifted their Solar Oil, which is a Nail and Cuticle Conditioner that smells of Almonds and I was blown by the quality of the brand.

I was also gifted one of the CND Sensations Lotion in the scent Black Cherry and Nutmeg which smells heavenly. I was given these as a Christmas gift from someone who brought these for me from the UK and of course wanted to get more and try more of their products. However I found it really difficult to find someone who stocks up these products that is until I found Lisa.

Lisa has just opened a new shop at the Hilton called Ojo Nail and Lash Bar and she uses, exclusively, CND products. She was previously living and working in Spain and has relocated to Malta. CND have a huge line of products, including nail polish, their amazing Shellac treatment, body lotions and washes and other nail essentials. If you’re a nail junkie than I’m sure this is something you want to look into!

Lisa explained to me how CND’s mission is to first and foremost care for the natural nail of the person. Thus the Shellac treatment, which lasts for over 2 weeks and gives your nails a natural and perfect looking finish, takes care of the nail bed and no drill is used during the application. Lisa explained how she aimed to create clean, delicate, professional looking nails that are not over the top and look good with everything. She explained how the aim at her shop is to have the whole treatment, where a client can go in, have a nice cup of coffee (or tea) and enjoy a relaxing time whilst having their nails done.

Additionally Lisa is also qualified to do lash extensions, which I haven’t heard of any good places in Malta yet that do them. For anyone out there who doesn’t know about lash extensions, it’s when you get individual lashes glued onto your own to make your eyelash look fuller and longer. They usually last for up to 3 weeks and then you can get fills, where only the ones that fall off are replaced.

Lash extensions are pretty basic to do. Lisa explained how most of her clients nearly fall asleep, it’s that relaxing. She applies a pad under the eye to prevent any glue to fall on the bottom lashes and then glues on synthetic lashes onto the natural lashes in a process which lasts around 1 hour and a half. Lisa uses Blink lash extensions which are synthetic to hold the curl better. The client gets to choose the thickness and the length of the lashes and once they’re on you don’t even have to use mascara.

Moreover during the month of February, in honour of Valentine’s Day Ojo are having tons of promotions going on, on their Facebook Page here. Also, guys if you haven’t decided what to get your loved one, *hint, hint*! You’re welcome!

The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost

Lately The Body Shop have been coming out with some amazing skin care and face base products. I just recently started using their Vitamin C Skin Boost which I use just before I put on my foundation, to help it glide on better and give a boost of radiance to my skin.

This product comes in a convenient pump and you get 30ml of product. You only need one pump for all over the skin to get a nice silky finish. Don’t over use the product otherwise you will end up looking like a grease ball.

Vitamin C is amazing for the skin as it gives it a glow and makes it look healthier and I love The Body Shop’s range. The product also contains Brazil Nut Oil and Cane Oil so it’s really good for your skin.

Winter Bronzer | Nars Laguna Bronzer

I’ve finally understood what all the hype about the Nars Laguna Bronzer is about! Right now I am the palest I have been in a long time and my usual bronzers/contour powders are looking too dark and orangey on my skin. I have had the Nars Bronzer for a while, I won it in a giveaway some time ago but never really loved it. It seemed like it didn’t show up much on my skin and basically did nothing.

However when I decided to give it another go lately and I fell in love with it. It’s not too orangey, doesn’t make me look like I have drawn on a line on my face and blends beautifully. This is like a fool proof product, you can never apply too much and if you do, you can blend it so it looks natural on the skin.

Clarins Daily Energiser Wake-Up Booster

The Clarins Daily Energiser Wake-Up Booster is a refreshing thin gel like product that helps give your skin a prep in the morning. I use it as my daily toner as it gives my skin a ‘boost’ as the name suggests and helps the other product I put on sit better on the skin.

Clarins is a renowned name when it comes to skin care and I already loved the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm and the Clarins Pore Minimizing Serum so I was quite eager to try this product. It is made with Red Currant, to hydrate and soften the skin, Green Coffee, to energize the skin, and White Tea Extracts, to protect the skin from environmental stress. As you can see I have used up nearly all of this bottle and have already gotten a backup for when this runs out, I love it that much. It has a light pleasant scent to it.

The directions to apply this is to either use your fingers to pat it in or to use a cotton pad. I personally use a cotton pad as otherwise I fear the product will go all over the place, I am a little clumsy. I just apply some to a cotton pad and then apply all over my face, even over my eyes and it is not irritating at all.

You get 125ml of product for £13.20 from escentual.com, so not cheap but not as expensive as others either and you only use a small amount so it lasts for a long time. This is also part of a range so you could get the Cleansing Gel and the Day Cream but I haven’t tried those yet.

This together with my Johnson’s Rose Water which I use when I have especially red skin are my favourite toners to treat my skin. I would also like to try the La Roche Posay SeroZinc but haven’t found anyone yet who sells it.

Pink of the Week: Essence Naughty and Pink

This week on my nails I am wearing Essence Colour & Go in #107 Naughty and Pink! which is a bright fuchsia pink.

I applied two coats of the Essence polish and the Sally Hansen’s Base Coat and Top Coat. The price of these nail polishes is €1.70 which is amazing and they always last a good week on my nails.

The consistency of the polish is not too thick so it goes on smooth and not streaky on the nails, better than some other more expensive brands I have tried. You get 8ml of product and they have a very good range of colours.

Have you tried any of the Essence polishes? Which one is your favourite?

Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Antioxidant Facial Serum

The Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Antioxidant Facial Serum is a product that has really become a favourite in my skin care routine. It is a serum made from Manuka Honey and I use two pumps of the serum for during the night before I put on my night time moisturizer. I find using a serum has really improved the texture of my skin.

I have never used anything else from the brand, Wild Ferns, but decided to give this a try since my skin seems to react well to honey based products.

Starting off this product is a lightweight serum that you pat into the skin and immediately sinks in leaving the skin looking plumper and brighter. It has high levels of antioxidants, combined with the beneficial properties of AAH (Antibacterial Antioxidant Honey) which helps tired and dull looking skin. It also contains Vitamin A and E which help reduce fine lines and against everyday stress.

The serum is made in New Zealand and made with New Zealand Manuka Honey. It contains 50ml of product, is in a simple plastic container and has a pump. It has quite a distinct scent to it, which took me a couple applications to get used to. It smells sweet and now I’m addicted to the scent. You can get it from feelunique.com for €14.82. I got mine during a 10% off Sale during the holiday time.
